tires Tires are not considered hazardous waste and are not accepted at the hazardous waste drop off sites. Instead, take them to your nearest Transfer Station:

Other options for disposal:

  • Some recycling events accept tires. Contact King County Solid Waste Recycling at (206) 296-4466 for special collection event information.

  • Tire Dealers: Most tire dealers will take their customers' old tires only when they purchase new ones:

Phelp's Tire Co. -- 2520 Airport Way S., Seattle (206) 622-8977, $3.50-8.50 per tire, depending upon size. Accepts passenger and truck tires. Rims OK, but an extra fee of $3.50 charged.

Schuyler Manufacturing -- 6901 Woodinville Redmond Rd., Woodinville, (425) 488-2255. Truck tires only, No passenger tires. $1.50 each. Call for size requirements. Will pick up large loads and accepts large quantities.

    Customers delivering tires with rims will be charged a demounting fee of $3.50 per tire

    $8.50/medium truck tire (w/o rims)

    Only accepts clean bias ply truck tires
    (20", 22", 22.5", or 24" rim size with at least 8" in width)
