Tobacco Prevention Program
The mission of the Tobacco Prevention program is to prevent tobacco use, addiction, and exposure to second hand smoke.

  • AHRQ Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence
    Resources including pocket guides, tool kits, guidelines, and quick reference guides for healthcare providers serving tobacco dependent individuals.

  • ASTHO Tobacco Prevention and Control Project
    Raises the visibility of tobacco prevention and control issues among State Health Officials and their senior staff.

  • American Legacy Foundation
    Develops national programs that address the health effects of tobacco use through grants, technical training and assistance, youth activism, strategic partnerships, counter-marketing and grass roots marketing campaigns, public relations, research and community outreach to populations disproportionately affected by the toll of tobacco.

  • American Lung Association: Tobacco Control
    Information on the Smokefree Air 2010 Challenge, tobacco control legislation, and targeted populations resources.

  • DOH Tobacco Prevention and Control Program
    Washington State Department of Health’s tobacco prevention and control program provides Washington specific information as well as a directory to other state programs.

  • CDC Tobacco Information and Prevention Source (TIPS)
    Coordinates strategic efforts aimed at preventing tobacco use among youth, promoting smoking cessation among youth and adults, protecting nonsmokers from environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), and eliminating tobacco-related health disparities.

  • Smokefree.gov
    Includes an online step-by-step cessation guide, a directory of local, state and national telephone quitlines, the NCI's instant messaging service, and publications, which may be downloaded, printed, or ordered.

  • Tobacco Free Kids
    Includes information on state, federal, and global initiatives, special reports, and research and fact sheets. The Tobacco Ad Gallery is particularly revealing.
