» PERSONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

  • Childbirth Classes
    • Childbirth classes are taught by a certified Childbirth Instructor.
    • Dates and times vary - call 206-296-4620
    • Fees covered by Medical coupons
    • Interpretation available
    • Arrangements can be made for in-home classes for women on bedrest
  • Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN)
    Provides linkage and coordination of services to all children with special needs and provides limited direct medical services, equipment and supplies to those families that meet financial and other program eligibility requirements.
  • Family Planning/STD Clinic
    Family planning services and education and reproductive health care includes HIV and STD screening, pregnancy tests, birth control.
  • Group Education (Pre-Natal, Mother/Baby, Toddler)
    • The classes offered are Baby and Me, Childbirth Education and Post Partum Support groups. The sites and times vary so call 206-764-5801 to register for Baby and Me and 206-205-7226 to register for Childbirth or Post partum support groups.
    • Each session of "Baby and Me" consists of 11 weeks of classes, covering parenting issues, child safety, developmental information, life skills for parents, discipline, medical concerns, nutrition and community resources. Classes are co-taught by a Public Health Nurse, and a childhood educator from South Seattle Community College.
    • Childbirth Education is taught by a Public Health Nurse, and provides information and education on pregnancy and delivery.
    • Post partum support groups are facilitated by a Medical Social Worker and provide Post Partum women with a place to receive support from other mothers experiencing similar issues, and education and support from a trained professional.

  • Health Educators

  • Interpreter Services
    Interpreter services are available to limited or non-English speaking clients by appointment for public health services.

  • Home Visits
    • Public Health Nurses visit clients in their homes to work with them on their concerns related to Maternal and Child Health, parenting, health and wellness concerns, domestic or child abuse, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, reproductive health and assistance with accessing basic resources.
    • Interpreters are available
    • Medical Social Workers also available on a limited basis
    • Call 206-205-7226 to make a referral for services.

  • Infant Case Management/Maternity Support Services
    • Infant Case Management, or "ICM" provides more in-depth assistance with accessing resources, and continues through the infant's first year.
    • Maternity Support Services or an "MSS" visit is an appointment with a Public Health Nurse, Nutritionist or Social worker who are trained to work with women during their pregnancy.
    • Screening of pregnancy risks and referral to OB care is made if needed.
    • Referral to a home visiting PHN is made as needed.
    • The Public Health Nurse can discuss pregnancy issues, transportation to medical appointments, childcare while at medical appointments, childbirth classes, childbirth, care of baby, community resources and birth control options after delivery.
    • The Nutritionist can help a pregnant woman choose good foods to eat, discuss the right amount of weight to gain, help with managing special problems such as high blood pressure or high blood sugar, and discuss the different ways to feed a baby.
    • The Social Worker can talk about questions or concerns; including basic needs such as housing, food and financial assistance, about relationships, going back to work or school, stress and relaxation, problems with anger, feeling "blue" or depressed, and supportive resources in the community.

    Confidential services for teens and adolescents 12-20 years old. Family planning services and education and reproductive health care, including HIV and STD screening, pregnancy tests, birth control.
