King County Board of Health Meeting on October 15, 2004

KING COUNTY, WA - The King County Board of Health will hold its next meeting on Friday, October 15, 2004, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the following location:

VIII. Rulemaking: Proposed Amendments to Wastewater and Drinking Water Program Fees (Action Item)

IX. Briefing: King County Executive, Ron Sims, will provide opening remarks regarding the DataWatch Update - Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality in King County.
Maria Carlos, Program Manager, Infant Mortality Prevention Program - Parent Child Health and Susan Barkan, Parent Child Health Epidemiologist - Epidemiology, Planning and Evaluation, will brief the Board regarding evaluating societal structures that give rise to disparities in health outcomes.

X. Briefing: Sarah Ogier, King County Groundwater Protection Program Manager, will discuss the Groundwater Protection Program 2004 Proviso Report, which recommends priority management services for groundwater protection in the county and funding strategies to support these services.

XI. Briefing: Kathy Uhlorn, Chief Financial Officer, will provide a briefing on the 2005 Public Health budget.  The purpose of this briefing is to present an overview of the Department’s budget submittal to Seattle and King County.  The presentation will discuss budget reductions and additions, and the related programmatic implications.

The King County Board of Health sets county-wide public health policy, enacts and enforces local public health regulations, and carries out other duties of local boards of health specified in state law. These duties include enforcing state public health statutes, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease, abating nuisances, and establishing fee schedules for licenses, permits and other services.
