REACH 2010 Coalition
REACH intervention class schedule

Classes are free of charge and are held by several REACH Coalition Partner agencies listed below in multiple language settings. Please contact your preferred site to reserve seats and for more information.

Description of intervention classes and groups:

green square bullet Support Groups provide:
Emotional support, shared experiences, shared resources, dealing with discrimination and tips for talking about diabetes. Support groups are ideal for family members, health care providers, friends and each other.

green square bullet Education classes include:
Physical activities, nutrition counseling, weight management, marketing, glucose testing, and other relevant topics.

green square bullet Self Management classes include:
Self-care focus, increasing self-efficacy, managing medications, methods for increasing provider-patient communication by patient initiative.

Target population: African Americans


Classes to be scheduled for 2008
The Center for MultiCultural Health offers free education classes to African Americans living with and at-risk for diabetes. Learn how to: Live better with diabetes, select and prepare foods to eat for a healthier life, develop self-management skills.

Support Groups class information (classes to be scheduled)

Meet doctors, nutrition specialists and other health care professionals and ask questions about diabetes and its complications; Find out about resources for free or low-cost medical supplies; enjoy a heart-healthy snack; and meet other people who are living with diabetes.
