WORK LOCATION: Link Light Rail Operations & Maintenance Facility located on Airport Way (across from Tully’s roasting plant).

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is overtime eligible. The normal workweek is Monday through Friday, but scheduled hours may vary including weekends, night and holiday hours, as necessary.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: This position is located in the Rail Section of the Transit Division.  The Rail Section will be responsible for providing rail service on a 15.5 mile double track system from downtown Seattle to the Sea-Tac Airport and on the 1.3 mile track of the South Lake Union Street Car system. The responsibilities of this position include maintaining inventory, issuing and receiving parts, purchasing, maintaining stock levels, opening and closing work orders and conducting warranty administration functions.  Incumbents may track the scheduling of maintenance activities for vehicles, equipment and related items.  Essential functions include: 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  The job requires basic levels of physical skill and regular kneeling, bending, squatting, reaching above and below the waist, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.  This job may include pick-up and delivery of parts.  Occasional lifting and carrying of items, weighing up to 100 pounds, with assistance and/or with the use of material handling equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an industrial setting where the worker is exposed to or in close proximity to heavy operating machinery, high voltage, adverse weather conditions, uneven surfaces; cat walks/metal grating, noxious or toxic gasses and chemicals. The noise level is quiet to occasionally loud.  Hearing protection and eye protection are required in some areas, and hard hats may be required on occasion.

SELECTION PROCESS: Applications will be screened to determine whether candidates meet minimum qualifications.  Candidates presenting evidence that they meet or exceed the qualifications noted above may be invited to participate in a series of interviews and a written exercise. Employment offers will be finalized only after candidates have successfully completed required physical examinations and pre-employment drug screens.  Reference checks and reviews of driving records will also be conducted prior to any final offer of employment.
