WORK LOCATION: King County Administration Building, 500 4th Avenue, Room 320, Seattle, WA 98104.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime eligible.  The workweek is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Supervises Capital Project Managing Supervisors and/or Capital Project Managers and provide strategic and engineering oversight to the planning, design and construction of large and small capital projects within assigned divisions within King County. Work typically involves a broad scope of engineering, architectural, construction management and project management responsibilities for the design and construction of facilities.

 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Provide strategic direction and guidance to Capital Project Managing Supervisors and/or Capital Project Managers.  Determine performance standards and measures for section, units, and individuals.
• Act as a key advisor to the Division Director on section’s strategic and policy issues.
• Develop and monitor the overall section’s operating budget. 
• Supervise the work of departmental staff members.  Hire, assign and schedule work, evaluate performance, and initiate disciplinary action when appropriate.
• Provide oversight on section’s projects, programs, and policies.
• Coordinate sensitive and complex studies and review impacts with Division Director, County Council and state officials.
• Develop policies and procedures within areas of responsibility for the entire department or division.
• Oversee the development and preparation of the annual capital improvement program for the section.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Four-year Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Public Administration or related degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Eight (8) years capital project management experience or the ability to document the demonstrated skills described in the primary job duties by relevant experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Washington State architect or engineer license. Valid Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to travel throughout the county in a timely manner.
