NEED ADDITIONAL TIME TO PAY?

GUIDELINES

You may pay the fine in full at the Court if payment in full is received within 30 days from the date you appear in Court. If paid in full within 30 days, you will avoid the set-up fee and monthly monitoring charges. To make your payment to the Court, mail check or money order to: King County District Court Payment Center, 516 Third Avenue — Room E340, Seattle, WA 98104.

If you need additional time to pay, the Court will provide you with the agreement and a packet of information. There will be a one-time set up fee of $15 and a monthly monitoring fee of $4.75 to $8.25, depending on the status of your account.

BENEFITS
Establishment of a realistic monthly payment.
Making regular payments will not affect your credit rating.
If you take advantage of the payment plan and comply completely with the guidelines, you will receive additional time to pay your fine(s) and avoid collection activity.
You are encouraged to make payments larger than the minimum due each month or to pay the account in full early to avoid further monthly fees.
You will receive a monthly statement along with a return envelope to mail your payments.
PENALTIES
If you fail to remain current with your payments your account will be placed in a delinquent status and late fees may apply.
If you fail to bring your delinquent account current, your default of the payment program will be reported to the Court.
Additional monetary penalties may be added by the Court.
If this involves a traffic violation, your driver's license may be suspended by the Department of Licensing.
Delinquent accounts will be referred to a collection agency and you will be responsible for additional collection fees.

Remember, if you choose to utilize time payment services, it is your responsibility to contact the provider before the deadline date (30 days from the date you appeared in Court).

Time Payment Instructions

To set up a “Time Payment” agreement you must do the following:

1. Obtain a Time Payment Information Packet from the Court. This contains 2 forms:

  • Time Payment application
  • Copy of Judgment & Sentence Order
  • 2. You must fill out both sides of the form completely, sign and date them. The Set-Up Deadline must be filled out by the Court.

    3. Along with the forms, you must also send in the $15.00 set-up fee AND your first monthly payment. Minimum monthly payments are typically 10% if the total amount owing is less than $1,000; 5% if the total amount owing is $1,000 or more; or $25.00, whichever is greater. If you need assistance determining your monthly payment, please contact SCMS at 1-800-874-1958.

    4. Please keep in mind that SCMS has no information on your account until the completed paperwork and fees are received and the account is set-up in the SCMS system.

    5. Incomplete paperwork or lack of appropriate payment may result in a delay of information being reported back to the Court.
