Flood Update

The King County Flood Warning Center reports flood conditions are beginning to improve in the upper Snoqualmie Valley and along the Tolt River this evening.

The combined flow of the north, middle and south forks of the Snoqualmie River crested at about 5 p.m. this afternoon. A crest downstream at Carnation is now expected to occur mid morning Friday at 56 feet – two feet above flood stage. Flood conditions are also improving along the Tolt River near Carnation following its crest late this afternoon. Earlier today, the Flood Warning Center issued Phase Three flood alerts for moderate flooding along both rivers.

Despite improving conditions in some areas of the Snoqualmie Valley, King County is advising motorists that additional roads may need to be closed through tomorrow due to the lowland flooding. Currently, floodwaters have closed four roads in the valley. (See updated King County Road Alerts for the latest road closures.) Motorists are reminded never to drive through standing water or around barricades.

The Flood Warning Center will remain activated and will continue to monitor the river flooding until conditions improve. Residents can access recorded flood information for King County rivers by calling (206) 296-8200 or 1-800 945-9263. Residents who need help interpreting flood information can contact the Flood Warning Center at (206) 296-4535. Motorists encountering water over roads maintained by King County can report them by calling (206) 296-8100 or 1-800-KC ROADS.
