KING COUNTY TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE TO DISCUSS UPCOMING IMPROVEMENTS TO 228TH AVE. SE AND ISSAQUAH PINE LAKE ROAD
The King County Road Services Division will hold an open house from 5:30PM - 7:30PM, Monday, May 3rd at Sammamish Library to familiarize residents with the latest plans to improve a three quarter mile stretch of 228th Avenue Southeast and a quarter mile stretch of Issaquah Pine Lake Road.
The county plans to widen 228th Avenue Southeast from two-lanes to four-lanes between Issaquah Pine Lake Road and Southeast 24th Street. The project will also include left turn pockets, bicycle lanes, lighting, drainage and other water quality improvements, and sidewalks along both sides of the road. In addition, new traffic signals and turn lanes will be installed at Issaquah Pine Lake Road and Southeast 24th Street to improve traffic flow through the busy intersections. The project, costing an estimated $5.8 million, is scheduled for construction this summer and is expected to take about a year to complete.
The project will create much needed capacity on this critical north-south plateau corridor, which serves local neighborhoods and businesses, Pine Lake Middle School and Discovery Elementary School. Subsequent improvements on 228th Avenue Southeast will be coordinated by the new city of Sammamish.
During the open house, residents will have an opportunity to view the latest designs and talk with project engineers about upcoming construction plans. Sammamish Library is located at 825 228th Avenue Northeast. For more information about the meeting, contact Mary Coltrane by e-mail at mary.coltrane@metrokc.gov or by telephone at (206) 689-3424.
