King County Considers Reducing Speed Limit on
Section of SE Cedar Falls Way
The King County Road Services Division will hold a public hearing at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 1999 in downtown Seattle to gather comments on a proposal to reduce the speed limit on a quarter mile stretch of SE Cedar Falls Way east of North Bend.
The division is considering lowering the speed limit from 40 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour on SE Cedar Falls Way between 432nd Avenue SE and 436th Avenue SE. The proposed speed limit reduction responds to community concern over speeds in the neighborhood and a traffic analysis which found the current speed limit to be inconsistent with the area's rural residential character. The proposed speed limit reduction is designed to increase safety for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
The hearing will be held in Room 400 of the Yesler Building, which is located at 400 Yesler Way, Seattle. Written comments will also be accepted through May 24, 1999 and should be forwarded to Ron Paananen, County Road Engineer, 400 Yesler Way, MS 4Y, Seattle, WA, 98104-2637, ATTN: KEITH BROWN. Comments can also be faxed to (206) 296-0176 or e-mailed to traffic.roads@metrokc.gov. For more information, call the Traffic Engineering Section at (206) 296-6596.
