King County to hold open house to discuss White Center sidewalk improvements

The King County Road Services Division will hold an open house from 6PM - 8PM, Tuesday, March 14th at Salmon Creek Elementary School to familiarize residents with plans to construct sidewalks on portions of Southwest 120th Street and 12th Avenue Southwest to enhance pedestrian safety in the White Center area.

The county plans to construct a sidewalk on the north side of Southwest 120th Street between Salmon Creek Elementary School and 4th Avenue Southwest. Plans also call for additional parallel parking along Southwest 120th Street. The project will enhance safety for children and pedestrians walking in the vicinity of the school.

The county also intends to construct a sidewalk along the west side of 12th Avenue Southwest between Southwest 108th Street and Southwest 116th Street. This project will also accommodate additional street parking. The project is designed to serve children attending Mt. View Elementary school. Both projects are expected to be constructed this summer.

During the open house, residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the sidewalk improvements and share their comments. Salmon Elementary School is located at 614 Southwest 120th Street. For more information about the open house, contact Mary Bass at (206) 263-5259 or by e-mail at mary.bass@metrokc.gov
