King County to discuss plans to make South 120th Street more pedestrian friendly

The King County Department of Transportation will host a community open house Thursday, May 10, to describe plans for improving pedestrian and bicycle safety along a stretch of South 120th Street.

The meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Boulevard Park Library, 12015 Roseberg Ave S.

In response to suggestions from the Boulevard Park Advisory Group, the county is proposing to add bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides of South 120th Street from Des Moines Memorial Drive South to Military Road South to enhance safety along the busy roadway. The improvements -- costing an estimated $850,000 -- are scheduled to be constructed in late 2002.

For more information about the open house, contact Kelly Lindsey at (206) 263-4529, or send email to kelly.lindsey@metrokc.gov.
