MEDIA ADVISORY:
New features for MyCommute cameras to be unveiled

As part of the Pacific Northwest Digital Government Summit 2001, King County Executive Ron Sims will unveil new features expanding the usability of the online traffic cameras at the county's MyCommute Web site.

Sims will join a media briefing at the MyCommute booth on:

Wednesday, July 18
10 a.m.
Bell Harbor International Conference Center
2211 Alaskan Way, Pier 66
Seattle

King County launched the MyCommute Web site in May as a pilot project to provide advance traveler information from six online traffic cameras located on three arterial corridors. King County's traffic cams are among the first in the region to use DSL/ISDN phone lines to carry signals back to the county's Web servers, avoiding the need to lay prohibitively costly fiber-optic cables.
