News ReleaseRelease date: Aug. 1, 2001 Metro offers service to Seafair hydro racesMetro Transit will be offering special shuttle service to the Seafair Hydroplane races this weekend. But the aerial performances by the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels will also cause some rerouting of two bus routes that travel across Interstate 90. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3-5, there will be free Metro Transit shuttles to the hydro races. Riders can board the shuttles on the north side of Safeco Field, eastbound on Royal Brougham Way between the Left Field and Center Field gates. The shuttles go directly to the Seafair Hydro Race site on South Genesee Street at 43rd Avenue South, with no stops except on South Columbian Way just east of 15th Avenue South. The shuttles return along the same route. Regular Metro routes stop within walking distance of the race site. Check individual timetables for the day and time you want to travel, since some routes do not operate on evenings or weekends. Regular service requires payment of a regular fare. Schedule information is available at Metro Online at http://transit.metrokc.gov or by calling (206) 553-3000. I-90 closure scheduleThe Washington State Department of Transportation is closing all lanes of I-90 across Lake Washington several times between Thursday and Sunday, to accommodate practice and airshow flights by the Blue Angels. The bridge closure will affect Metro Route 215 and Sound Transit Route 550 during the following times:
Reroute information is available at Metro Online at http://transit.metrokc.gov/ or by calling (206) 553-3000. |
