Ogershok, King County, (206) 296-6515 Area agencies set to launch fifth annual New partnerships will speed emergency response and public notification As we head into the winter storm season, regional leaders will unveil new tools for improving disaster readiness at the fifth annual Taking Winter by Storm campaign. Representatives from King, Pierce and Snohomish counties will join the Washington State Department of Transportation and National Weather Service to announce the creation of an enhanced information network aimed at keeping the public better informed, plus a new multi-county mutual aid agreement, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the King County Emergency Operations Center. The agencies will also highlight their plans to respond to the full range of winter weather in the region -- including floods, heavy rain, wind, snow and ice storms. Who: King County Executive Ron Sims; Snohomish County Executive Bob Drewel; Washington State Department of Transportation Northwest Region Administrator Lorena Eng; National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Ted Buehner; Lyle Quasim, Chief of Staff for Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg; and participating partners of the Regional Public Information Network (RPIN). Where: King County Office of Emergency Management, 7300 Perimeter Road S., Seattle Directions: From Airport Way, take the main entrance to King County International Airport (Boeing Field). Take an immediate left on to Perimeter Drive. Park in the terminal parking lot. The Emergency Operations Center is in the red brick building between Airport Way and Perimeter Road.
