Metro on a reduced schedule for Fourth of July

On Thursday, July 4th, Metro and Sound Transit operate on a Sunday schedule with some extra service for major events such as the 4th of Jul-Ivar's and Woodinville fireworks displays.  Visit Metro Online for complete details.

Service changes on Thursday, include:

  • Metro Transit and Sound Transit's Regional Express bus service operate on Sunday schedules;
  • Metro Transit's George Benson Waterfront Streetcar Line service is free all day on July 4th, and operates a Sunday schedule with extra trips southbound from Pier 70 immediately after the fireworks at 10:30 p.m.;
  • The Elliott Bay Water Taxi operates on a Saturday schedule, with extra trips operated as necessary after 11 p.m. for fireworks crowds;
  • Sound Transit's Sounder commuter rail service does not operate; and
  • Metro's Pony Express Route 770 to Emerald Downs will operate.

For those attending the fireworks display at the turf farm near Woodinville, make it easy and hop on the free Metro shuttles at the following locations:

  • Woodinville Park & Ride lot, Northeast 179th Street and 140th Avenue Northeast;
  • Northshore Junior High School, 12101 Avenue Northeast and Northeast 160th Street; and
  • Woodmoor Elementary School, 12225 Avenue Northeast and Northeast 160th Street.

The Woodinville fireworks shuttle service will be available from 6 p.m. to midnight.

There is also a Mariners home game scheduled for 3:35 p.m. on July 4. Metro will provide special service both to and from the game from nearly a dozen outlying Park and Ride lots. The downtown bus tunnel, Metro's Rider Information, Lost and Found, and Customer Assistance will be closed on July 4th, as will all other Metro, Sound Transit and King County offices.
