Construction causes reroutes for North Seattle bus service

Construction work will affect King County Metro Transit service in Ballard and Fremont beginning Friday evening. Plus, ongoing work at the University of Washington is causing detours for buses in the University District.

The city of Seattle will close the Ballard Bridge for repairs from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 through 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. During the closure, no vehicles will be allowed on the bridge.

Metro Transit is preparing for the closures by rerouting its regular service around both the Ballard and Fremont bridges. Metro will provide shuttle service to connect passengers with the rerouted buses. Look for more information on Metro Online. Similar service will be offered during a second, lengthier closure of the Ballard Bridge from Sept. 6 to Sept. 9.

Metro is reminding passengers that another construction project continues to affect bus service on the University of Washington campus. Through Friday, Sept. 6 there will be no bus service along Stevens Way. Passengers should board and exit all transit service along 15th Avenue Northeast, Northeast Pacific Street, or Northeast Campus Parkway. This reroute has been in effect since Aug. 19.

For all the latest reroute information, check Metro Online.
