High winds causing problems in East King County

High winds have toppled trees and power lines in some parts of East King County, resulting in at least one major road closure.

King County Roads crews have closed 276th Avenue Southeast south of Highway 18 near Hobart. More than 14 trees are down in that area. Crews from King County and Puget Sound Energy are working on the problem, but the road may not be reopened until later this afternoon.

There are also other problems reported in the May Valley area.

Winds in the Cascade foothills are expected to die down later today, but motorists are advised to use caution and watch for road blockages.

County road problems can be reported by calling (206) 296-8100 or 1-800 KC ROADS (1-800-527-6237). The situation in King County will be updated on the Regional Public Information Network at www.govlink.org.
