The King County Road Services
Division is planning to temporarily close 204th Place Northeast
on Union Hill late next spring for significant repairs.
The division will be hosting an open house to discuss the project with the
community on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the commons at
Evergreen Junior High School, 6900 208th Ave. NE, Redmond.
Road Services is planning to completely replace the existing retaining walls
on the south side of 204th Place Northeast between Redmond-Fall City
Road (State Route 202) and Northeast 61st Street. Additional work
includes repaving the roadway and installing guardrails.
The work will require closing 204th Place Northeast between SR
202 and Northeast 61st Street for approximately a month. This
section of 204th Place NE is an important link between SR 202 and
neighborhoods and schools on Union Hill and Novelty Hill. Road Services is
working with the Lake Washington School District and local school principals to
coordinate the road closure with school needs. The closure will have additional
traffic impacts that the county wants to discuss in advance with the community.
More information will be available at the open house, and county staff will
be accepting comments and suggestions.
