I
nput wanted on Metro changes in two corridors:
Rainier Valley/Broadway & Ambaum/Delridge

King County Metro Transit is hosting several meetings to gather input on improving bus service in two key corridors. Metro is also gathering ideas and opinions via a comment form that is due back shortly.

Metro is looking at ways to improve bus service in the Rainier Valley/Broadway corridor in Central Seattle, and along the Ambaum/Delridge corridor in Southwest Seattle and suburban communities to the south. The overall goals include: increasing transit travel times and schedule reliability; adjusting service to meet changing passenger demands; improving neighborhood connections to major corridors; and upgrading bus stop facilities when possible. Metro is looking to redistribute existing transit service hours to make the most efficient use of its resources.

In the Rainier/Broadway corridor, changes could affect Routes 7, 9, 38, 39, 42, 48 and 60. In the Delridge/Ambaum area, revisions are likely to focus on Routes 20, 130, 132, 135, 136, 137, and 139.

The ideas gathered at the meetings and through the comment forms will be reviewed over the next several months by Metro planners and a panel of citizens. Draft proposals will be shared with the public at a second set of meetings to be held this coming winter.

The ideas will be refined and reviewed again by the public, before being submitted to the Metropolitan King County Council for approval. If approved, the transit service changes would be implemented in September 2004.
