Help Metro design a new Burien Transit Center

King County Metro Transit is seeking applicants for the Burien Transit Center Community Advisory Group. The group will give Metro advice on design and construction of a new transit center in downtown Burien.

Metro is planning to rebuild the existing transit center at Southwest 150th Street and 4th Avenue Southwest. The project will expand and enhance bus loading and layover areas to improve transit operations.

Approximately 15 transit riders, community members, and local business owners will be selected to represent a broad cross-section of community and rider interests. Advisory group members play an important role throughout the planning process to:

  • Work with staff to offer community and transit rider perspectives on project designs;
  • Participate in a community meeting to listen to public comment;
  • Review general public feedback; and
  • Provide advice as requested to Metro Transit staff and project team members.

Members of the Burien Transit Center Community Advisory Group will be expected to attend approximately six early-evening meetings on selected Wednesdays starting in mid April and running through the end of 2004. Advisory group members are also expected to attend one community workshop in the fall.

Applications to join the advisory group are due by Wednesday, March 24. Applicants who are chosen for the advisory group will be notified by the end of March. The application is available online.

For more information about the advisory group, visit Metro Online. Or, contact Patrick Duhon, community relations planner, by phone at 206-263-3424 (voice); 206-684-1682 (TTY); 206-263-3489 (fax); or by email at patrick.duhon@metrokc.gov.
