Inside Transportation for
October 2003
Inside Transportation is a
half-hour program designed to help you understand and better use the
transportation options available to you. It is a presentation
of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit. The show airs on King County Civic Television (CTV) Tuesday nights at 5 p.m., Wednesday mornings at 5 a.m., and various other times during the week.

RTID Explained. The Regional Transit Investment
District is working on a list of road and transit improvement projects, along
with ways to finance them. King County Department of Transportation Director
Harold Taniguchi explains the department’s role in RTID.

Flood Season. The leaves are falling and so is the
rain. The height of the flood season in King County generally falls between
November and February. Time for a primer for residents in flood prone areas on
the county’s four phase-flood warning system.

Metro Mechanics. King County Metro’s mechanics
finished in first place at the 2003 International Bus Roadeo competition.
Additional Metro teams also placed highly in the state competition earlier this
year, winning the drivers title and finishing second in the mechanic’s division.

Time Flies. King County International Airport
celebrated its 75th anniversary with a grand re-opening of its newly
remodeled, historic passenger terminal building. The ceremony was highlighted by
the recollections of four 90-year old aviators who were on hand when the airport
first opened in 1928.

It’s Your Bus. As we adjust to the back to school
commute, there’s an increase in students riding Metro buses. Metro’s Public
Safety Partnership has some tips for parents and teens on how to make sure you
have a smooth ride. |
