Inside Transportation for February 2004

Inside Transportation is a half-hour program designed to help you understand how the King County Department of Transportation serves the public and how to take advantage of the transportation options available to you.  It is a presentation of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit. "Inside Transportation" airs on King County Civic Television (CTV) Tuesday nights at 5 p.m., Wednesday mornings at 5 a.m., and various other times during the week.

Construction countdown. The county's newest park-and-ride facility at Eastgate will accommodate 1,700 cars that might otherwise drive right by along the I-90 corridor. Construction crews have topped off, now they're counting down to the June opening.

Neither wind, nor snow... Wild weather battered King County as we started the new year. Take a look at some of the conditions Department of Transportation road crews had to deal with to keep roads open and traffic moving.

Photo:  Boeing Field -1928 Oldie but goodie. As Puget Sound aviators gathered to celebrate 100 years of flight, one of the highlights was a recently discovered newsreel covering the opening of Boeing Field in 1928.

What a year! 2003 was a year of milestones for the King County Department of Transportation. From building new bridges to VIPs landing at King County International Airport, we'll look back at many of the people and events of 2003.
