Inside Transportation for September-October 2006  

Inside Transportation is designed to help you understand how the King County Department of Transportation serves the public and how to take advantage of the transportation options available to you.  It is a presentation of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit. "Inside Transportation" airs on King County Television (KCTV) Tuesday nights at 5 p.m., Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m.

New Vans For Metro Partners King County Executive Ron Sims hands the keys to a new van over to Senior Services CEO Denise Klein. A state grant paid for 21 new vans to be given to eight local agencies who work with seniors and people with disabilities. The agencies are part of Metro's Community Access program.

A Day On The Vanpool – Tim takes a morning to ride with a Vanpool from Roosevelt in Seattle to REI in Kent.  Metro's vanpool
program is one of the best in the nation and is getting more and more popular.  The program currently has about 780 vans on the road in Washington.

A Race Against Time - Damage from the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake made repairs to the runway at the King Co. International Airport inevitable.  But time was of the essence as businesses at the airport had to shut down during the paving.  See how crews got done on time, and under budget.
