What's
new this week in transportation
Park-and-Ride lot expansion

As many weekday commuters
know, park-and-ride spaces in King County are getting tougher to find.
But there’s good news ahead for commuters vying for spaces at
busy park-and-ride lots such as Eastgate. [Enlarged

To meet the growing
demand for more park-and-ride spaces, King County Executive Sims this week announced
a regional three-year effort to bring
6,420 new spaces to
park-and-ride lots all across the county. The Executive was
up early Wednesday
morning to greet
commuters at one of King County’s busiest park-and-ride lots, the
Eastgate lot, and talk
directly with them about those plans. He and Metro staff passed out questionnaires
and asked commuters to share their thoughts about the kinds of improvements
they would like to see to make their daily trip run more smoothly.
If you didn’t have an opportunity
to talk with the Executive and Metro staff during one of these visits, you can share your comments
about the Northgate
and Eastgate
Park-and-Ride lots on-line.
The Executive
will also greet commuters at 3 other Park-and-Rides next month.
