Narrator Says:

It was the greenest celebration of the year as thousands of Puget Sound residents visited the first ever Green Festival in Seattle to shop for environmentally friendly products, listen to speakers sharing eco-tips from around the world and learn about what they can do to live a greener, healthier lifestyle.

The King County Pavilion was a popular stop for many festival goers. The goal was to let King County show you how easy it is to be green, with experts from the Department of Transportation and the Department of Natural Resources and Parks on hand to answer questions and help people make lifestyle changes that are healthier for them and the environment.

In addition to tips on how to reduce your individual carbon footprint, people were also hungry for advice on how to save water, reduce hazardous wastes, what to look for in a hybrid vehicle, how to be an Enviro-star and how to get the most out of our local parks. Most came away from the experience a more enlightened shade of green.

King County co-sponsored the festival and is a local government leader in creating policies and programs that improve environmental stewardship and create market-based solutions to help protect the planet.

The first ever green Festival in Seattle allowed King County’s experts to share information about programs that foster environmental stewardship and strengthen communities by providing clean public transportation, regional parks, clean water, air, land and natural habitats, and creating resources from wastewater and solid waste.

The county will also share these messages at its Earth Day Expo, April 22, at Westlake Plaza in downtown Seattle.
