Signal Synchronization Grant Program

Year 2002 Signal Synchronization Grant Awards

In November 2001, King County called for project proposals for the second year of our Signal Synchronization Grant Program. The amount of funding available in year 2002 is $415,000.  In February 2002, nine projects covering 83 signals in 8 cities were selected to receive an award.

Click below the map on the left to see the location of these projects within the cities of Burien, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Renton, Sammamish, and Seattle.

The approved projects will focus on a long stretch of Rainier Avenue in Seattle, cross-valley roads in Kent, major arterials in Sammamish and Federal Way, and main street areas in Burien, Renton, Kirkland and Issaquah. They are:

  • 29 signals in two sections on Rainier Avenue in Seattle, between Interstate 90 and South Hudson Street and between Brandon Street to 57th Avenue South;
  • 14 signals in Kent along the Kent-Kangley Road from 152nd Avenue Southeast to Central Avenue South;
  • 10 signals in Federal Way on South 320th Street from Pacific Highway South to Peasley Canyon Road;
  • 10 signals in the Renton Highlands along Sunset Boulevard from Park Drive to Duvall Avenue;
  • 6 signals on 228th Avenue Southeast in Sammamish from the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road to Southeast 8th Street;
  • 6 signals in Burien on First Avenue South from Southwest 128th Street to 148th Street;
  • 5 signals in Issaquah on Front Street between Second Avenue and Dogwood Street; and
  • 3 signals in downtown Kirkland on Lake Street from Kirkland Avenue to Third Street.
