Transportation 101:

Understanding who makes transportation decisions in the Puget Sound Region,
and how they are funded

Purpose

This booklet (578 KB pdf file) is a primer for understanding who makes transportation decisions in the Puget Sound Region and how they are funded.  It provides a general overview of who the decision makers are for Puget Sound Region with a focus on King County, and how they plan and fund the decisions they make.  This is not an explanation of how the transportation system operates, nor does it give specific details to any one topic.  If additional questions exist, many of the topics have internet links associated with them to allow the reader to further self-explore a topic.  Additionally, the end of this document is an expansive list of transportation related acronyms and terms that serves as a reference tool.

On February 19, 2004, the Eastside Transportation Partnership (ETP) sponsored an information session about transportation in the Puget Sound region for local elected officials. The information from that session can be found here.
