Metro looking for input on new Redmond park-and-ride garage
King County Metro Transit is
looking for public input on its plans to build a three-story parking
garage near the current Redmond Park-and-Ride lot at 8178 161st Ave. NE. Holiday schedule for transit service
Metro Transit bus routes will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday,
Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday. Route 99, the waterfront streetcar
bus, will not operate on that day. Preston road reopens three weeks early
A flood-damaged road in East King County was re-opened three weeks early
thanks to an accelerated work schedule by the King County
Road Services Division
and its contractor.
Roads Services Division staff and the on-site contractor, Wilder
Construction, built a temporary access road using the south shoulder of
Interstate 90 within four days, but travel has been restricted while
permanent repairs were made. The county originally thought the new
roadway would not be completed until mid-January, but was able to
accelerate the work. The total cost of repairs in the Upper Preston area
is estimated at approximately $4 million. Dockton Road now partially open The King County Road Services Division has partially reopened Dockton Road Southwest on Vashon Island, and anticipates the road will be fully open by Jan. 1. The road was closed between Portage Way Southwest and Chautauqua Beach Road on Dec. 11, after county engineers discovered the seawall supporting the road had suffered significant damage during recent storms and could no longer safely support the roadway.
Crews have now reached an important milestone, and the road is safe for
travel during non-work hours. This partial opening will allow the crews
to work faster and more safely. So, the road will still need to be
closed when the crews are at work, which will be during the afternoon
and evening to take advantage of low tides. Work along the seawall and
the road should be wrapped up by the end of the month. Roads wants feedback on Southwest 98th Street
King County is asking for input on how to make Southwest 98th Street
more inviting for pedestrians and bicycles between the White Center
business district and the new Greenbridge housing area. |
