Plea Negotiations
Attorneys Negotiate
Between the time you plead "not guilty" and the time you go to trial, your attorney will talk to the prosecuting attorney about whether you're willing to admit to something less serious than they've charged you with, or whether the prosecutor is willing to drop the charges against you. This is called "plea negotiations."

Choose one of the two options (click on the Smiley or Frowny) to see where it leads you!
_____
Smiley The prosecutor agrees to let you admit to doing something that's not as bad as what you were first charged with (you're off to sentencing) or the prosecutor agrees to drop the charge against you (and you're free to go!)
_____
Frowney The prosecutor won't agree to dismiss and you're not willing to admit to anything. You're going to trial!
