Police Report
Handcuffs
Uh-oh... You've done something that a police officer or another person (who calls the police) thinks is illegal.
_____
Smiley The police officer will fill out a report indicating the results of his or her investigation; statements from witnesses, physical evidence at the scene, maybe even your statement if you choose to talk (remember, you don't have to talk to a police officer if you don't want to!--it says so in the Constitution).
_____
Frowney The police officer will also indicate on the report what crimes he or she believes you may have committed. You're still not charged with a crime yet - the report gets sent to the Prosecutor's office, and a Deputy prosecuting attorney will decide whether you're going to be charged.
