March 5, 2001 The first joint-county forum between King and Pierce Counties will be this Wednesday, March 7th at Noon at the Weyerhaeuser/King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Councilmembers will address a number of regional issues including rising power costs, the economic outlook, the environment and in light of last Wednesday’s earthquake, regional disaster preparedness. “As we were reminded with last Wednesday’s event, there are a number of issues that affect all of us no matter the name of our county,” said Council Chair Pete von Reichbauer. “We must come together as regional leaders and be prepared to address a number of issues from a collective perspective.” Washington State’s Chief Economist Dr. Chang Mook Sohn will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Sohn’s speech will focus on our region’s economic outlook as well as the current state government revenue picture. Lawmakers will then hear from industry and community leaders including Mr. Lynn Michaelis, Chief Economist, Director of Marketing and Economic Research for Weyerhaeuser, Allan Warman with the Energy Resources Department at Boeing and Tim Hogan, Vice President of Systems Operations at Puget Sound Energy.
