March 6, 2001 The Metropolitan King County Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 26 to take testimony on a proposal to transfer surplus property to the City of Kenmore as part of the city’s improvement of the SR-522 corridor. The proposal would transfer ownership of a 9,877 square foot parcel of land lying adjacent to Bothell Way and 73rd Way N.E. that was purchased by the county in 1970 as right-of-way for road improvements. The City of Kenmore will receive the property subject to the terms and conditions of the interlocal agreement authorized in the ordinance. “It’s a win-win situation for both Kenmore and the county,” said Councilmember Larry Phillips, the sponsor of the proposal. “The land was originally purchased to help improve traffic through the corridor. This allows the city to continue that work.” A legal description of the property and copy of the proposed ordinance can be obtained from the Clerk of the King County Council at 206-296-1020. The public hearing will be held before the full council at the King County Courthouse, Room 1001 on March 26 at 1:30pm. The council is expected to vote on the transfer immediately following the public hearing. – End – |
