"Meeting the Challenge" will begin in earnest next week as the
Metropolitan King County Council Budget Committee begins public hearings on
the FY2002 budget on Tuesday, October 16th. Four
public hearing meetings will be held, each in a different region of King
County. All meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.

10/24 Central King County – King County Council Chambers, Seattle.
Budget Committee Chair Rob
McKenna issued the following statement:
"Each year seems to pose more challenges to adopting a County budget
that balances the complex needs of this region. This year we face a
particularly daunting challenge, with a large current expense deficit and
election results for various initiatives that will not be known until late
in our review process. We are confident, however, that through mutual
cooperation and combined efforts we can adopt a budget that will well serve
the citizens of King County."
