Gossett continues quest to change county logo

During the this weekend’s ceremonies and festivities honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Metropolitan King County Councilman Larry Gossett will continue to garner support for his proposal to change the official logo of King County from a crown to a likeness of Dr. King.

The weekend’s efforts will culminate on Monday, Jan. 17 when people participating in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Rally march from Garfield High School to the King County Courthouse. At the park on the south side of the courthouse, Gossett will be presented with petitions supporting Ordinance 99-0472 to change the logo.

In addition to Monday’s rally, Gossett’s schedule also includes the following appearances:

Friday, January 14th

8:00 a.m. – Assembly speaker at Sequoia Jr. High School MLK Celebration

11:30 a.m. – SCCC MLK Commemorative Service

7:30 p.m. – Speak at Ethnic Cultural Theatre, 3931 Brooklyn NE, Seattle.

10:00 a.m. – MLK Breakfast

Sojourner Truth Unity Fellowship Church, 1632 Broadway, Seattle

6:00 p.m. – Blacks in Government Annual MLK Banquet

Sunday, January 16th

10:00 a.m. – Speak at Edmonds Unitarian Church
