WHO MAY APPLY:  These two (2) positions are open to all qualified King County career service employees who are members of the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters holding the same classification as the vacant position, all King County career service employees, all other executive branch regular exempt employees, and current probationary employees who achieved career service status in a previous position and the public. Bargaining unit members will receive first consideration. This recruitment is an effort to fill two (2) career service positions and to create a list of competitive candidates to fill similar vacancies in the Building Services Section that may occur throughout the year.

WORK LOCATION:  Primary work locations for position 0251 are the King County Correctional Facility (downtown Seattle) and the Regional Justice Center (Kent), and the primary work location for position 0236 is the King County Courthouse Complex, however, per section 4.2 of the Joint Crafts Council Contract, management has the right to determine work location.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  This position is overtime eligible.  Full-time positions work a 40-hour week.  Regular shift for position 0251 is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Regular shift for position 0236 is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Work shifts and hours may vary due to maintenance and project requirements.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Perform journey-level Carpenter duties including the installation, repair and maintenance of locks, hardware and doors.  

 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Candidates must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license or the ability to travel throughout King County in a timely manner in a variety of County vehicles.  Final appointment is contingent upon successfully passing thorough Facilities Management Division and Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) background investigations, and a pre-employment physical examination.

 

SELECTION PROCESS:  Applications will be screened for clarity, completeness and qualifications.  The most competitive candidates may be invited to a panel interview and a written and practical exercise.  Finalists may interview with the supervisor.  Reference checks may be conducted prior to any offer of employment.
