WORK LOCATION: Link Light Rail Operations & Maintenance Facility located on Airport Way in Seattle (across from Tully’s roasting plant).

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is eligible for overtime pay if scheduled. The normal workweek is Monday through Friday, but scheduled hours may vary including weekends, night and holiday hours, as necessary.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: The Rail Section will be responsible for providing rail service on a 13.9 mile double track system from downtown Seattle to the Sea-Tac Airport.   This position will provide track maintenance and perform a variety of maintenance duties, inspection, repair and replacement.  Other duties include, but are not limited to:

 

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; two-years experience as Class I  

railroad/contractor maintenance of way laborer including experience operating hi-rail and crane equipment. 

Advanced knowledge of and journey level skill in track and structures maintenance work for electrified

light rail systems or equivalent skill in a comparable field.  Applicants must be able to meet on-going

educational and training requirements and maintain certification and complete basic and advanced

principle classes of track maintenance certification.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and in inclement weather. 

Physical ability to be mobile, perform heavy manual labor, exert physical effort while standing, walking, or lifting materials, tools and objects weighting up to 100 pounds, such as paving breakers, joint bars, ties, and tamping tools.  Able to work in crowded and tight spaces, tunnel, and aerial structures.

 

SELECTION PROCESS: Applications will be screened to determine whether candidates meet minimum qualifications.  Candidates presenting evidence that they meet or exceed the qualifications noted above may be invited to participate in a series of interviews. Employment offers will be finalized only after candidates have successfully completed required physical examinations and pre-employment drug screens.  Reference checks and reviews of driving records will also be conducted prior to any final offer of employment.
