WORK LOCATION: King County Superior Court/Juvenile Court Services is located in the King County Youth Service Center, 1211 E. Alder, Seattle, WA.
WORK SCHEDULE AND TERMS: This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime eligible. The workweek is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Continuation of this position is based upon renewed funding.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: The incumbent is responsible for implementing and managing the Family Treatment Court (FTC) Program, under the administrative supervision of the Superior Court and the judge assigned to Family Treatment Court. Primary job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate overall program development and implementation including:
- Develop and maintain information system for case tracking and data collection.
- Develop and maintain Family Treatment Court policies and procedures.
- Prepare a training manual and develop a training program for program practitioners.
- Develop Family Treatment Court resources for participants, such as program rewards and graduations.
- Identify/develop community resources for post-program support.
- Coordinate the Family Treatment Court team; ensure cases are complete and scheduled for hearings; and perform other administrative functions. Oversee cases and case processing.
- Primary responsibility for running Family Treatment Court Advisory Committee meetings and Family Treatment Court business meetings involving other county, state and community agencies.
- Act as chief liaison between the following parties: King County Family Treatment Court and similar state and national programs; and outside professional resources.
- In collaboration with state and county governing agencies, coordinate and maintain chemical dependency treatment standards, including policies enabling expedited screening, assessment and acceptance of clients into the FTC program.
- Develop continuing education and team building strategies. Identify and provide cross-system training opportunities for court professionals, judges, social workers, Court Appointed Special Advocates and treatment providers. Prepare training materials.
- Build and facilitate partnerships with public agencies and community base providers, facilitate regular review of court process, and inform referral sources about the program.
- Manage program data and prepare reports.
- Develop and maintain program budget and track expenditures.
- Recruit, train and supervise staff. Evaluate staff performance and provides coaching, feedback and corrective action for performance issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master’s degree in social work, public or court administration or a related field and three years of professional experience working with children and families in a court or legal setting, or a Bachelor’s degree in social work, public or court administration or a related field and five years of professional experience working with children and families in a court or legal setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job are required.
- Knowledge of the dynamics and issues in court cases involving children and families is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of substance abuse and its affects, including evaluations, treatment and related services.
- Ability to manage complex projects, and to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with various community agencies. Supervisory and budget experience preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience with various computer applications.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Finalists must pass a criminal background check and reference check. Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license or be able to travel throughout the County by alternate means.
