WORK LOCATION: Juvenile Detention Division, 1211 – East Alder, Seattle, WA 98122.
WORK SCHEDULE: This career service position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime eligible. The workweek is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm but hours will vary depending on activities. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
JOB DUTIES SUMMARY: This position will serve as an expert technical resource and project lead for the Juvenile Division and will manage multi-disciplinary or technically challenging projects. Incumbents work independently in designing and managing complex analytical projects or leading project work teams, and advising the Division Director/Senior Management Team in policy and budget development and Division planning efforts. Responsibilities may include complex analysis, research, systems development, and project/program management. Analyses and projects may involve interagency, inter-jurisdictional, and/or multi-disciplinary coordination, and may require technical expertise. The “Essential Functions” for this position are detailed below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in government, public policy, economics, or related social science field.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of work experience involving complex quantitative analysis and research techniques in criminal justice, health/human services, or other social science field; Three years of work experience can be substituted by a graduate degree involving complex quantitative analysis or social science research; Proficiency in word processing, presentation, and analytical software; Effective oral and written communication skills.
Most competitive candidates will possess: Demonstrated experience/ability to perform complex quantitative analysis; demonstrated ability to lead team efforts to define and complete various types of research studies; demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis and prepare written and verbal descriptions of methodologies and results; demonstrated ability to perform analyses using data from criminal justice administrative data systems; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate study results, research findings to senior managers and elected officials.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates must pass a thorough background investigation process (including polygraph, criminal history check, and references).
