Open Class Still Life
Have you ever wondered what your neighbors do in their spare time? Were you ever curious about what Open Class Still Life at the King County Fair entailed? Come to the Exhibit Hall (north side) during the fair and have both questions answered. There you will find Home Arts (baking and food preserving, clothing and stitching), Fine Arts (photography and artwork), Hobbies (ceramics, woodworking, stuffed toys and many more) and Educational Displays. You will be impressed by how creative the craftspeople are when seeing their crafts and handiwork displayed. In addition, the Open Class Flower Show will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 18 - 20, and the Open Class Rose show on Saturday and Sunday, July 19 and 20. Their beautiful displays are on the north side of the Exhibit Hall. Click here to download the Open Class Premium Book: OC/Grange/FFA
Grange
Organization of the Washington State Grange, in 1889, preceded by just two months the admission of Washington Territory to statehood. King County Fair is proud to have seven local Granges take part in this year's Fair. The Grange displays educate the public about a wide variety of agriculture in the area, and make art out of agriculture.
Grange Displays contain all the common fruits and vegetables grown at an average Washington farm home. These can include threshed grains, seeds and grasses; fresh and preserved vegetables and fruits; livestock products including eggs; and flowers. Each display must have a representation of fresh and canned fruit, vegetables, pickles, relishes, meats, jams and jellies. Stop by the north end of the Exhibit Hall to see produce and other food displays that are, well, good enough to eat.
Open Class Livestock
Open Class Livestock this year features Beef Cattle and Dairy Cattle . They will both be on display in the livestock barn alongside the 4H and FFA animals. Dairy cattle will also be seen in the milking parlor located inside the barn.
