East Lake Sammamish Trail Dedication
King County Executive Ron Sims dedicated the long-awaited interim East Lake Sammamish Trail, today in Sammamish.
Completion of the 11-mile-long interim East Lake Sammamish Trail comes after years of negotiation and litigation. The trail runs from King County’s Marymoor Park near Redmond through Sammamish to Issaquah.
Sims was joined at the event by Metropolitan King County Council Chair Larry Phillips and City of Sammamish Mayor Michele Petitti, along with members of the Cascade Bicycle Club, the Cascade Land Conservancy and others.
$$$ for Youth Sports!
King County Parks' Youth Sports Facility Grants (YSFG) program provides matching grant funds up to $75,000 to youth sports organizations that partner with a public agency such as a school district or city parks department to develop or renovate sports facilities.
King County Parks is accepting grant applications until June 23, 2006 with Letters of Intent (LOI) due April 28th. To download an application click here, or email butch.lovelace@kingcounty.gov.
The program has awarded more than $7 million in grants and contributed to nearly 200 new or renovated athletic facilities since 1993. The YSFG program is a model for capital planning and development through partnerships, a major component of the Parks Division's business plan.
