Taylor Mountain Forest

Taylor Mountain Forest is located south of Issaquah off of the Issaquah-Hobart Rd where it intersects with Highway 18. Currently parking is limited to a small cut out along 276th Ave SE (Issaquah-Hobart Rd.). There is also parking on the south side of the mountain along SE 208th St. at the Seattle Watershed gates where access can be gained to the Carey Creek Trail. The parking lot off of 276th Ave. SE in the park will be opening in the near future. Its capacity will be near 50 cars or 20+ horse trailers.

This forested mountain is a place for hikers, mountain bikers and horsemen. Currently many of the trails are seasonal being open to the public from April through October due to the muddy conditions and the possible erosion runoff into the streams of them either being rerouted or under construction. There are several miles of old logging roads that stay open year round. The old logging road that ran north and south has been abandoned as of July 2007. The culvert under the road was removed to open up Carey Creek. A new bridge built in 2006-2007 over Carey Creek and connected to Boot Trail by Mountain Beaver Trail is the only connection of the south side to the north side. A new bridge was also built during the 2006-2007 season giving crossing access over Holder Creek on the east side of the mountain to the Holder Creek Trail.

Be aware that there is significant wildlife in the area. Bear and cougar sightings are possible. You may even see dear and elk on occasion.
