Damage hotline closes – online reporting remains open

Recovery process hits the ground in King County

King County, WA – The King County Damage Hotline, (1-800-523-5044) will end operations this evening at 5:00 p.m. Residents and business owners can still report damage online at www.kingcounty.gov/prepare until further notice. This information has been collected in order to assist the Washington State Emergency Management Division (EMD) in requesting federal assistance because of this disaster.

The King County Office of Emergency Management has taken approximately 400 reports from residents totaling approximately $8M of uninsured damage or loss to their primary residences. Additionally, 23 businesses have reported uninsured damage or loss totaling over $700,000.

Damage to government infrastructure and property, as well as costs of emergency related work has been estimated at over $20M throughout King County.

The recovery process continues locally as the King County Office of Emergency Management works this week with on-the-ground Preliminary Damage Assessment teams from the Washington State EMD and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to verify damage estimates.  These inspections will be submitted to FEMA to make the case for a potential federal disaster declaration, which could offer flood relief to residents and businesses of King County.
