CHARGES FILED IN RESTAURANT SHOOTING
|
The King County Prosecutor's Office today filed charges of murder in the first degree and attempted murder in the first degree against Rey Alberto Davis-Bell for a shooting at a restaurant in the Central District of Seattle on January 30. Davis-Bell is accused of killing the owner of the restaurant, injuring a customer, and firing several rounds at a restaurant employee.
Davis-Bell's rampage began earlier in the day when he fired at least nine rounds through the front window of the West Seattle home of his former girlfriend.
Davis-Bell, 23, is charged with one count of murder in the first degree and three counts of attempted murder in the first degree. Prosecutors have added a firearm enhancement for each count. He is also charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
If the defendant is convicted as charged, the sentence range is 108 to 131 years in prison, which includes the firearm enhancements.
"The Seattle Police Department did an extraordinary job investigating this violent rampage and apprehending the person we believe is responsible," said King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg. "The defendant faces a sentence of over 100 years if he is convicted of these charges, a long sentence to be sure, but also one that has been earned by both his past and present acts of violence," he added.
The defendant is being held in the King County Jail on $2 million bail. He is scheduled for arraignment on February 14 at the King County Courthouse.
