PLEASE NOTE: These bulletins, published since 1997, are historical. The content is not updated.
The King County Environmental Purchasing Program was established in 1990 to assist County agencies in implementation of King County Executive Policy CON-7-1-2, which requires agencies to use recycled and other environmentally preferable products "wherever practicable."
The program assembles information about these products and makes it available to specific agency users who can evaluate them and attempt to develop applications in County projects.
These procurement bulletins contain information about the results of product evaluations and other accomplishments of County agencies. We hope this information can help you find ways to use recycled materials in the work of your agency and that you will contact us if we can help you with further information or if you have suggestions.
Web-Site - King County Environmental Purchasing Program
The King County Environmental Purchasing Program opened a site on the world-wide web in April, 1995, as a resource to participants in the King County program as well as others in the community.
Municipalities and other organizations throughout the nation are beginning to recognize that they can make a difference to the environment by purchasing environmentally preferable products and are finding leadership in this confusing new area in the examples set by King County agencies. Over 15,000 visitors entered this web site from January through June of 1997, more than twice the number of visits during that period last year. People from all over the world are taking advantage of this site and these contacts are bringing new information that County agencies may be able to use as we try to develop new applications for recycled and other environmentally preferable products.
