The State of Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) declared 1999 "The Year of Recycled Roadway Materials." During 1999, they produced a packet of information on a different material each month, highlighting recycled materials used in roadway construction. The packets include: material overviews, research summaries, case studies, a list of TXDOT specifications currently allowing use of featured materials, a list of material sources (in Texas, of course), and a summary of TXDOT experiences with the material.
The featured materials are large volume material streams that offer engineering benefits, cost-effective pricing, and no increased environmental risks. TXDOT has also proved research summaries of various projects that they've undertaken over the years. We have provided Internet links to their website, along with links directly to each of the monthly packets (Adobe Acrobat PDF) and case studies (htm format).

The King County Environmental Purchasing Program assists County agencies in implementation of King County Executive Policy CON-7-1-2, which requires agencies to use recycled and other environmentally preferable products wherever practicable.
The program assembles information about these products and makes it available to specific agency users who can evaluate them and develop applications in County projects.
These environmental purchasing bulletins contain information about the results of product evaluations and other accomplishments of County agencies. We hope this information will help you find ways to use recycled materials in the work of your agency and that you will contact us if we can help you with further information or if you have suggestions.
