Contracts are established with suppliers who fill performance requirements specified by agencies and who comply with various statutory requirements. King County agencies often establish "term-contracts" for recycled and other environmentally preferable materials (and numerous other commodities); these contracts allow agencies to order materials as needed, without re-negotiating new pricing for each order. Term-contracts have three advantages: they result in lower prices than buyers would pay for multiple small orders; they ensure that specifications remain consistent; and they minimize delays in obtaining materials.
