Small Works Roster

King County awards some smaller public works projects using the Small Works (SW) Roster process. These construction projects are valued at $200K or less and are not advertised in the newspaper. Usually, five or more contractors from the Small Works Roster are invited to bid. Contractors are rotated on the list to ensure equal opportunity to bid.

Contractors on the Small Works Roster are listed by trade specialties. Trade specialties are based on the contractor's description of experience and availability on their application form. Refer to Roster Disciplines (238KB DOC) for a listing of the specialties. Contractors must also have a current contractors license registered with the State of Washington. Read SW Roster (28KB DOC) for an explanation letter.

Contractors are encouraged to apply only for trade specialties they are able and willing to perform. Contractors are expected to bid when solicited. Repeated non-response to roster solicitations may result in removal from the Roster.

To be eligible for inclusion on the Roster, you must provide all of the information requested. Access SW Application form (349KB DOC) to enroll.

Bid bonds are not required on Small Works projects. The bid period is short and some public works laws apply. A performance and payment bond is required for any project estimated to cost more than $25,000 and an insurance certificate must be filed before any work can begin.
