When and How to Make Changes
WHAT ARE "QUALIFYING LIFE EVENTS"?
"Qualifying life events" allow you to make midyear changes to your health care coverage that you normally wouldn't be allowed to make.
You may make certain changes to your health care coverage after qualifying life events, while you may make other changes at any time. In addition, as the result of certain changes in your life, you're required to discontinue dependent coverage. This section helps you through the maze of changes you can or must make.
For Benefits Other Than Health Care
When making changes, you may want to update other information that may affect your benefits—for example, if you and your spouse divorce, you may want to update your beneficiary information for life insurance with Aetna Life Insurance and for accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and long-term disability (LTD) insurance with CIGNA Group Insurance.
